RECAP: Win Streak Ends at Traverse City

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — The 2013 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, saw a franchise record eight game win streak come to an end in a 7-3 loss to the Traverse City Beach Bums on Friday night.

Traverse City grabbed a 3-0 lead against starter Hunter Ackerman. The Boomers rallied to tie the game in the fourth. Alexi Colon notched a pinch hit double to score Joe De Pinto with the first run. Tony Delmonico nailed his second homer in as many nights, a two-run shot to tie the score. The Boomers did not record another hit in the game, finishing with just four, two from Delmonico. Traverse City plated a run in the bottom of the inning and added three in the sixth. Heith Hatfield worked two scoreless innings in the defeat.

Schaumburg (39-27) will look to start a new streak at Joliet on Saturday night. RHP Eddie Cody (2-1, 2.67) takes the ball for the Boomers in the 6:05 p.m. contest with RHP Andrew Busby (2-3, 4.10) on the mound for the Slammers.
