RECAP: Boomers Hold Off Joliet
JOLIET, Ill.  — The 2013 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, held off a late charge from the Joliet Slammers in an 8-7 win on Saturday night.
 
Schaumburg broke through in the top of the second inning, scoring three times. Ryan McChesney opened the scoring with an RBI single and Joe De Pinto logged a two run single in the frame. Joliet battled back to even the score against starter Eddie Cody, who worked six innings to earn his second consecutive victory. The Boomers scored four runs in the fifth to grab the lead. Tony Delmonico notched an RBI single to put the Boomers ahead for good. Bobby Martin, who posted three hits and three RBIs, also recorded a two run double in the frame. Joliet plated three runs in the ninth but left the tying run at third.
 
Schaumburg (40-27) continues the series on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. RHP Cal Bowling (6-5, 5.51) starts for the Boomers against RHP Kody McFarland (2-3, 4.50).
