RECAP: Records Fall in Boomers Rout

JOLIET, Ill. - The 2013 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, set a pair of franchise records in an 18-4 rout of the Joliet Slammers to win the series on Monday night.

Joe De Pinto handed the Boomers a 1-0 lead just two batters into the game with an RBI double to bring home Alexi Colon. Schaumburg went on to score five more runs in the inning punctuated by a Michael Valadez grand slam on a 3-2 pitch with two outs capping the six-run outburst.

Schaumburg went on to score in six different innings as Tony Delmonico drilled solo homers in the fourth and again in the sixth to match a franchise mark for homers in a game. Valadez notched a two-run double as part of a seven-run sixth to finish with six RBI in the game. Eight individuals tallied at least one hit and scored at least once during the rout as the Boomers finished with 17 hits. The 18 runs set a franchise record along with the six RBIs from Valadez.

Danny Jimenez claimed his fourth straight win by working five innings, improving to 7-3 on the season. Ross Spurgeon tossed three innings out of the bullpen and allowed just an unearned run.

Schaumburg (41-28) returns home to begin the longest homestand of the season on Wednesday night with a 6:30 p.m. contest against the East Division leading Washington Wild Things. RHP Seth Webster (5-2, 3.07) starts the first of nine in a row at home against LHP Zac Fuesser (7-1, 1.82).
