Seth Webster Named Frontier League Pitcher of the Week

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Frontier League and the Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, announced starting pitcher Seth Webster as the league’s Pitcher of the Week after the right-hander posted eight impressive innings against the first place Washington Wild Things on Wednesday, August 6.

Webster, 25, held the league-leading Wild Things to just four hits and one earned run over eight innings on August 6 leaving with the game tied at one run apiece. The deceptive side-arm delivery of the Louisiana native contributed to six strikeouts and weak contact from the opposition all evening. Webster becomes the first member of the 2013 Champion Schaumburg Boomers to take home weekly honors since the Frontier League began the weekly awards process during the 2014 season.

Webster ranks eighth in the league in ERA at 2.88 and boasts 65 strikeouts against just 19 walks in 84.1 innings pitched over 14 starts in 2014 as the 6-foot-5 hurler continues his sensational string of success in Schaumburg following a stellar 2013 season. Webster earned a 6-1 record and a 2.40 ERA over 11 starts last year after joining the Boomers in July as a free agent out of Louisiana College. Over his 27 career professional starts, including two playoff appearances in 2013, Webster owns an 11-3 record with a 2.77 ERA over 168.2 innings in a Boomers uniform and has surrendered just 157 hits with 122 strikeouts and just 33 free passes.

The Schaumburg Boomers look to complete the sweep of the Rockford Aviators at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, August 11 before welcoming the Evansville Otters to Boomers Stadium for the final three games of this extended homestand at 6:30 on Tuesday, August 12, 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13 and 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 14.
