RECAP: Boomers Nipped By Aviators

SCHAUMBURG, Ill.  — The 2013 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, dropped a 4-3 decision to the Rockford Aviators on Monday night.

Rockford scored two first inning runs on four hits before Schaumburg starter Seth Webster settled down. Webster, named the Frontier League’s Pitcher of the Week on Monday, retired 14 in a row and 19 of 20 before the eighth.

The Boomers were able tie the game in the bottom of the seventh. Justin Vasquez led off with a triple and scored when Tony Delmonico parked his sixth homer of the year over the wall in left. Rockford scored twice in the eighth and the Boomers moved the tying run to scoring position in the ninth but could not complete the rally.

Schaumburg (44-31) welcomes the Evansville Otters to town on Tuesday night in the first of three with one of the East Division contenders. The Boomers have not announced a starter for the opener but Evansville will send RHP Trevor Walch (5-1, 2.63) in the 6:30 p.m. affair.

The game can be heard live on AM 1410 WRMN with the Voice of the Boomers and 2013 Frontier League Broadcaster of the Year, Tim Calderwood. Reserve your piece of the fun at Boomers Stadium this season by calling 847.461.3695 or visiting www.boomersbaseball.com.
