RECAP: Boomers Blow By Evansville

SCHAUMBURG, Ill.  — The 2013 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, scored early and often in a 12-5 win over the Evansville Otters on Tuesday night.

Welcoming back pitcher Charle Rosario, who missed 67 games with a head injury, the Boomers provided plenty of offense early to support their starter. Schaumburg opened a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI double from Tony Delmonico. The Boomers extended the lead to 2-0 on an RBI single from Alexi Colon in the second. Five runs scored in the third to break open the game. Mark Nelson opened the scoring in the frame with an RBI single. Schaumburg added three in the fourth and two in the fifth. Rosario worked 4.2 innings in his return. Anthony Smith tossed 3.1 blank innings to earn the win.

Seven individuals picked up hits for the Boomers, who smacked out 13 in the game. Justin Vasquez posted three hits in his first three at bats. Ty Nelson finished with three RBIs. Schaumburg owns a league best 30-10 record at home.

Schaumburg (45-31) continues the series on Wednsday afternoon with a 1:00 p.m. affair. RHP Eddie Cody (4-1, 2.76)starts for the Boomers opposite LHP Jose Velez (1-2, 2.25).
