RECAP: Boomers Better Belters
NORMAL, Ill.  — The 2013 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, concluded the final six game roadtrip of the season with a 9-7 win over the Normal CornBelters to claim the 50th win of the year. Schaumburg has won at least 50 games in all three years of existence.

For the second consecutive night, Gerard Hall delivered a go ahead three-run homer. Hall crushed his sixth homer of the year in the top of the fifth to break a 5-5 tie. Schaumburg raced to a 3-0 lead in the first on an RBI single from Tony Delmonico and a two-run double off the bat of Mark Nelson. Normal responded each time until the homer from Hall. The CornBelters brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth after scoring a pair but couldn’t complete the comeback as the Boomers won a series for the ninth time in the second half. Seth Webster worked six innings to collect his sixth win of the season. Eight individuals posted hits in the game with Mark Nelson and Ty Nelson logging two each.

Schaumburg (50-34) returns home for a busy Friday night contest at 6:30 p.m. LHP Anthony Gomez (0-0, 4.97) starts for the Boomers on Harry Potter Night against RHP Lamarre Rey (3-5, 7.78).
