RECAP: Boomers Blank Greys

SCHAUMBURG, Ill.  — The 2013 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, improved to a season high 18 games over .500 with a 9-0 blanking of the Frontier Greys before 5,788 fans on Saturday night.

Schaumburg wasted no time in taking the lead, scoring three runs in the bottom of the second, only one of which was earned. The Boomers scored in four different innings, putting the game out of reach with four runs in the sixth, three of which scored on a double from Gerard Hall, who added a triple in the contest and drove home four. Alexi Colon also collected an RBI single in the sixth, and drove home a pair on the night.

Charle Rosario was the beneficiary of the run support. Rosario improved to 2-0 on the season by working six blank frames and striking out seven. Justin Erasmus collected his first save by striking out four in the final three frames. Schaumburg totaled 10 hits in the game and drew a season high 10 walks.

Schaumburg (52-34), winners of four in a row, now own a magic number of six with 10 games to play to clinch a second consecutive playoff appearance. The series concludes at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. RHP Eddie Cody (5-1, 2.75) takes the ball for the Boomers in the series finale against RHP Mark Belcastro (2-1, 5.33).
