RECAP: Boomers Bang Out 25 Hits in 10th Straight
CRESTWOOD, Ill.  — The 2013 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, banged out a franchise record 25 hits in recording a 16-1 win over the Windy City ThunderBolts to extend a franchise record win streak to a league high 10 games.
 
Justin Vasquez opened the scoring with a first inning sacrifice fly to score Gerard Hall. Vasquez matched a team record with five hits in the contest. Schaumburg scored at least one run in seven different innings. Ty Nelson recorded a two-run single in the top of the third to break a 1-1 tie. The Boomers broke the game open with six runs in the fourth. Hall finished with four hits. Vasquez, Mark Nelson, and Ty Nelson drove home four runs each. The Boomers logged just four extra-base hits among the total with 10 individuals racking up at least one.
 
Justin Erasmus worked seven innings to earn the win in his first start. Erasmus struck out eight and allowed only four hits. Ross Spurgeon finished the game with two scoreless innings. The Boomers have racked up 34 runs on 44 hits in the first two games of the series.
 
Schaumburg (58-34) concludes the series with Windy City on Sunday night at 5:05 p.m. RHP Seth Webster (7-4, 3.13) takes the ball in the series finale with RHP Eli Anderson (1-8, 6.86).
