RECAP: Boomers Drop Game One of Championship Series

O’FALLON, Mo.  — The 2013 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, dropped game one of the Frontier League Championship Series by a 5-1 score to the River City Rascals on Saturday.

The Boomers opened the scoring in the contest, grabbing a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth. Joe De Pinto led off with a double to left against River City starter Tim Koons.Justin Vasquez singled off the wall to score De Pinto with the only run. River City scored single runs in the fifth and sixth to take a 2-1 edge and chase starter Charle Rosario from the game. Rosario worked 5.2 innings and was saddled with the loss. Schaumburg finished with four hits and none after the sixth.

Schaumburg (61-35, 3-2) trailed the best-of-five series 1-0. Game two is on Sunday night at 5:05 p.m. The game can be heard live on AM 1410 WRMN with the Voice of the Boomers and 2013 Frontier League Broadcaster of the Year, Tim Calderwood.
