O’FALLON, Mo. — The 2013 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, stole home field advantage by recording a 6-2 win over the River City Rascals to even the Frontier League Championship Series at a game apiece.

Schaumburg nabbed a 2-0 lead in the contest by plating single runs in the first and second. Tony Delmonico roped a double to left-center with two outs in the first, plating Alexi Colon. Bobby Martin reached on an error to knock in Gerard Hall in the second. River City’s Jon Myers tied the game with solo homers in the second and fifth against Justin Erasmus, the Schaumburg starter.

Hall connected on a three-run homer with two outs in the sixth to break the deadlock, his second homer of the playoffs. Colon added insurance with an RBI single in the eighth to account for the final. Erasmus worked 5.2 innings in his first start of the playoffs to earn the win, striking out three. Clark Labitan, Kevin Brahney and Dexter Price combined to finish out the victory.

The bottom of the lineup combined for five hits, three runs, and four RBIs. Michael Valadez finished 3-for-4 while Hall drove home three. Schaumburg totaled nine hits in the contest.

The Boomers (61-35, 4-2) won three times on the road this week. The best-of-five series shifts to Boomers Stadium on Tuesday night for a 6:30 p.m. affair. The game can be heard live on AM 1410 WRMN with the Voice of the Boomers and 2013 Frontier League Broadcaster of the Year, Tim Calderwood.
