Boomers Open With Shutout

CRESTWOOD, Ill.  — The two-time defending Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, opened the 2015 season by shutting out the Windy City ThunderBolts 2-0.

Seth Webster picked up where he left off in 2014, twirling seven shutout innings. Webster struck out six and allowed just three hits. The third year member of the Boomers retired 12 in a row from the second through the sixth. Jordan Dean provided all the offense Webster would need. Dean notched an RBI fielder’s choice in the third and added a solo homer in the seventh. Brandon Bargas, Clark Labitan, and Dexter Price finished off the win with Price earning the save following a 1-2-3 ninth.

The bats totaled nine hits in the game, which was briefly halted for a rain delay in the fourth. Dean, Michael Valadez, Mike Schulze, and Craig Massey each posted two hits. Schulze reached in all five at bats with two walks and a hit by pitch along with a pair of doubles. The opening night shutout marked the second in team history
