Boomers Rained Out

WASHINGTON, Pa.  — The two-time defending Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, were rained out of a scheduled contest with the Washington Wild Thing on Saturday night.

Heavy and consistent rain was falling for most of the afternoon, forcing the postponement. The two teams will attempt to play a doubleheader on Sunday. Both games will be seven innings in length. First pitch time for the doubleheader will not change as the first game begins at 1:35 p.m.

The Boomers (2-0) send RHP Edwin Carl in his return to the mound for the Boomers in the first game and LHP Anthony Gomez in the second contest. Washington will send RHP Ryan Bores and LHP Kyle Helisek. The home schedule opens on Friday, May 22 against the Lake Erie Crushers. The evening begins with a ring ceremony to honor the 2014 team and ends with the first of 21 firework nights. Ensure your place in the fun by calling (847) 461-3695 (FOWL). All games can again be heard on AM 1410 WRMN with the voice of the Boomers, Tim Calderwood. Broadcasts begin with a 15-minute online only highlight show followed by a 15-minute pregame radio show.
