SCHAUMBURG, Ill.  — The two-time defending Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, announced the signings of pitcher Brett Maus and position player TJ Bennett.

Maus, a Tinley Park, IL native, makes his professional debut with the Boomers after a strong collegiate career that culminated at St. Joseph’s College. With the Panthers in 2014, Maus tallied 58 strikeouts in 70.2 innings to go along with a stout 3.31 ERA. Prior to St. Joseph’s, the 6’3” 190 pound Maus registered 56 strikeouts in 58 innings pitched with Triton College as a sophomore and 24 strikeouts in 25 innings pitched with Lake Land College as a freshman. He attended Andrew HS in Tinley Park, IL. *need birthday*

Bennett, 22, joins the Boomers after appearing in one game for the Joplin Blasters of the American Association during the 2015 season. Prior to this year, the Mesa, Arizona native was a member of the Gateway Grizzlies where he posted a .269 batting average with 14 doubles and 37 RBIs in 56 games during his first professional season. Standing 6’3” and weighing 190 pounds, Bennett turned pro after a two year career at the University of Utah where he posted 51 hits in 48 games started along with 31 RBIs and 26 runs.  

In a corresponding move, the Boomers announced the release of pitcher Zach Wendorf. The Boomers roster now stands at 24 players.

The Boomers (18-23) continue a patriotic six game homestand at Boomers Stadium against the Evansville Otters with Fireworks presented by Wintrust Community Banks July 3 and 4 and Family Sunday July 5.
