Boomers Score Doubleheader Sweep
NORMAL, Ill.  — The two-time defending Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, swept a doubleheader with the Normal CornBelters on Thursday night to win the series with victories of 11-4 and 3-0.

The first contest saw the Boomers storm out of the gates, scoring three two-out runs in the top of the first. Craig Massey, named to the All-Star team before the game, notched a two-run double and Kyle Ruchim followed with an RBI single. The lead reached 5-0 behind a pair of two-out run scoring hits in the second from Mike Schulzeand Massey. Normal pulled within 8-4 but a two-run homer from Jordan Dean put the game out of reach. Dean tallied four hits and scored five times in the victory. Brett Mabry allowed just one earned run, but left following four innings. Hideyoshi Otake won in relief.
