Rockford Pulls Away Late

SCHAUMBURG, Ill.  — The two-time defending Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, suffered a second consecutive loss to the Rockford Aviators, falling 10-2 on Saturday night.

For the second consecutive contest, the Boomers grabbed a first inning advantage. Mike Schulze led off the game with a single. Schulze has reached base in 26 straight home games. Jordan Dean followed with a double. Craig Massey notched an RBI groundout to hand the Boomers a 1-0 lead. Rockford tied the game in the third and grabbed a 2-1 edge in the sixth. The Aviators scored five in the seventh for the second straight night to pull away.

Eddie Cody suffered the loss, allowing four runs in 6.1 innings of work. Rockford lashed out 15 hits while Schaumburg tallied nine. Schulze finished with a pair of hits in the game. Eight different players posted hits for the Boomers.
