Boomers Skid Stretches With 7-2 Defeat

SCHAUMBURG, IL – The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, were unable to achieve victory for the third straight game against the in-state division rival Rockford Aviators in a 7-2 loss to the Frontier League West Division leaders.

Boomers left fielder and Northwestern University alum Kyle Ruchim led Schaumburg’s offense with two hits, including a double that plated designated hitter Mike Schulze following an error by Aviators left fielder Anthony Renteria.

Schulze tallied the Boomers lone RBI of the game in the first inning, plating Schaumburg second baseman Jordan Dean after Dean knocked a leadoff double in the home half of the first frame.

On the mound, Rockford capitalized on Boomers starter Peter Gehle, collecting 10 hits in five innings. The Boomers arms punched out 11 total Aviators with recently signed reliever AJ Quintero posting two hitless innings out of the bullpen. Rockford starter Kyle Hassna earned his seventh victory of the season.

The Boomers (25-35) continue to search for franchise victory number 200 with a midweek series against the Joliet SlammersJuly 28-30 at Boomers Stadium.
