SCHAUMBURG, Ill.  — The two-time defending Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, suffered a 2-1 loss to the Joliet Slammers before 5,088 fans on the final Day Camp Day of the season.

Schaumburg built a 1-0 lead in the pitcher’s duel, scoring in the top of the fourth. Alexi Colon doubled to the wall in right and scored from second on a wild pitch. The run marked the second straight contest in which a runner scored from second on a wild pitch. Joliet tied the game with a run off Schaumburg starter Raul Jacobson in the sixth and added a single run in the seventh to win. Jacobson suffered the loss despite working seven innings and allowing just two runs.

Colon posted a pair of hits for the Boomers, who have now dropped eight straight at home. Mike Schulze reached twice, extending his on base streak to 29 straight at home. Kyle Ruchim tallied a hit in the fourth to extend his streak to 12 games.

The Boomers (25-37) conclude the homestand with a 6:30 p.m. affair on Ladies Night against Joliet. RHP Taylor Thurber (0-1, 9.00) makes his second professional start against LHP Michael Carden (2-3, 4.11).
