Boomers Rally to Beat Wild Things

SCHAUMBURG, IL – The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, overcame an early deficit and held on with the skill of the pitching staff to capture a 3-2 victory over the Washington Wild Things Sunday afternoon at Boomers Stadium.

Starting third baseman Cam Sherrer scored the deciding run of the game with a two out RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning. Sherrer’s fourth RBI of the year plated designated hitter Willi Martin, who started off the frame with a leadoff double.

The single culminated a rally of three consecutive runs that started in the third inning. Boomers left fielder and Buffalo Grove, IL, native Kyle Ruchim lifted a shot off the scoreboard in left field to give the Boomers their first run of the game. Shortstop Craig Massey led off the next inning with a solo home run of his own, tying the game 2-2.

On the mound, Boomers starter Raul Jacobson exceled, tossing 8.1 frames and allowing just two runs on the way to his third victory of the season.
