Boomers Win Four Straight

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, extended their winning streak to four with a 6-4 victory over the Washington Wild Things Friday night.

It was Disney night at the ballpark, and the Boomers quickly made it the happiest place on earth as they scored three runs in the bottom of the first. Jordan Dean scored on a balk to start the rally and Nick Lynch scored on a throwing error during Dusty Robinson’s at bat. Robinson doubled home Paul Kronenfeld to cap the scoring in the frame. Kenny Towns blew it open in the fourth with a three-run home run to right field. Washington battled back with a three-run shot of their own in the fifth and a run in the sixth but the rally fell short and the Boomers pitching held the two-run lead.

Scott Schultz earned his third win of the year, throwing seven innings and allowing four earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts. The Boomers are three games over .500 for the first time this season as they extended their home winning streak to eight. The consecutive win streak is the third streak of four or more on the year for Schaumburg. Newcomers Nick King and Zack Weigel notched their first career hits with singles in the first and fourth respectively.
