Boomers Come From Behind to Tie Franchise Record

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, tied the franchise record for consecutive home wins Saturday night with a 7-2 win over the Washington Wild Things.

The Boomers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second on a Dusty Robinson RBI double. The Wild Things struck back with a run in the fourth and fifth to build a 2-1 advantage. The Boomers quickly erased the deficit in the bottom of the fifth. Paul Kronenfeld singled home Kenny Towns to pull even before Robinson gave Schaumburg the lead again with a three-run home run to left. Chris Robinson and Jordan Dean hit back to back RBI doubles to close out the six-run inning and provide starter Gunnar Kines all the offense he needed.

Kines threw seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits and struck out six. The Boomers bullpen was flawless again as Ken Knudsen and Payton Baskette combined for two scoreless innings. The win was Schaumburg’s fifth consecutive victory in a row and ninth straight at home.

The Boomers look for their second consecutive sweep in a Sunday afternoon matinee at 1 p.m. with Kagen Hopkins (3-1, 2.78) getting the start.
