Boomers Edged in Series Finale

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — Seth Webster threw his second complete game of the season, but the Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, struggled offensively in a 3-1 loss to the Normal CornBelters in the series finale on Sunday night before 6,398 fans.

Webster allowed just three runs in his nine innings, surrendering nine hits with no walks and seven strikeouts. Webster, the team’s career leader in strikeouts, has struck out seven or more hitters in half of his starts this season. Normal built a 3-0 lead in the game, receiving solo homers from Dillon Haupt in the second and Nolan Meadows in the ninth. Schaumburg rallied in the ninth, bringing the tying run to the plate. Paul Kronenfeld tripled with two outs and scored on a Mikal Hill double. Ino Patron lined out to the wall in center to end the game. Five different individuals posted hits in the game.
