Boomers Fall in First Half Finale

WASHINGTON, Pa. — The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, head into the Frontier League All-Star break with an 8-1 defeat at the hands of the Washington Wild Things, dropping the road series.

Washington scored in six different innings against three Schaumburg pitchers and rode the seventh complete game of the year from Trevor Foss, who struck out eight and allowed nine hits. Washington grabbed the lead in the first inning for the third straight contest against starter Lars Liguori, who dipped to 0-3 after working four innings. Kenny Towns drove home the lone run in the top of the fourth. Towns and Mark Nelson each posted two hits. The pitching staff struck out 12 with Derek DeYoung fanning four in two innings and Patrick Dolan five in two frames.

The Boomers (24-28) will have three representatives in the Frontier League All-Star festivities this week before opening the second half of the slate at River City on Friday night.
