Boomers Dropped in Finale at Normal

NORMAL, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, dropped the rubber contest with the Normal CornBelters on Thursday night, falling by a final of 8-1.

Normal scored in the first inning, opening the scoring for the first time in the series when Aaron Dudley connected on a two-run homer. Dudley made it 3-0 in the third. Schaumburg scored the only run on an error in the fourth. Normal pulled away with two in the sixth and three in the seventh. Scott Schultz worked six innings but suffered the loss, allowing five runs but only three earned. Schaumburg managed just three hits in the game but drew four walks.

The Boomers (26-32) return home on Friday night for a busy and fun-filled three-game weekend series.
