Seth Webster Named Pitcher of the Week

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — Schaumburg Boomers starting pitcher Seth Webster has been named Frontier League Pitcher of the Week for July 24 to July 31.

Webster went 2-0 on the week and has won his last three decisions. The right-hander started his week with a 4-3 victory at Gateway, hurling seven innings and allowing two runs while striking out nine. Webster then battled through six innings to defeat the Southern Illinois Miners on Sunday, surrendering one unearned run on six hits in the contest, striking out six.

Webster, in his fourth season in Schaumburg, is tied for third in the Frontier League in wins this year with seven. He also spent time in the Atlanta Braves organization last year before returning to the Boomers in 2016. Webster has posted a 7-6 record on the season with a 4.30 ERA in 96.1 innings of work.

“Seth has had somewhat of an up and down season. That’s just baseball and it’s going to happen to anyone that plays for an extended period of time,” Manager Jamie Bennett said. “Seth is also the ultimate competitor and an extremely hard worker. You always want to be playing your best baseball the last month of the season and Seth is a guy that has done that for us during two championship seasons.”

Webster is the third Boomer this season and the second in July to earn league, weekly honors. Fellow starter Kagen Hopkins earned pitcher of the week earlier in the season and first baseman Paul Kronenfeld earned player of the week earlier in July.
