Lots of Hits, Few Runs in Boomers Loss

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — Despite 10 hits, the Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, managed just one run in a 9-1 loss to the Joliet Slammers.

The Boomers fell behind early as the Slammers scored three in the second and five in the third to make it 8-0. The Boomers ended the shutout in the fifth on a Mark Nelson RBI single. Joliet scored another run in the seventh to make the final 9-1. Schaumburg left a total of 13 men on base in the contest.

Kenny Towns extended his hitting streak to seven games with a single in the third. Outfielder Argenis Aldazoro has reached base in every game he’s played in as a Boomer.

The Boomers aim to avoid the sweep Thursday night at 6:30 with lefty Gunnar Kines on the mound.
