WASHINGTON, PA —The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, dropped an 8-1 decision in the rubber game of a weekend road series to the Washington Wild Things on Sunday.

Washington scored six runs in the third inning as six consecutive batters reached base against starter Scott Schultz. Schultz worked six innings, walking two and striking out four in the defeat. Mike McClellan drove home the lone run with a double in the fifth as Schaumburg managed just five hits, three coming in the fifth.

Patrick Dolan and Kurt Lipscomb combined to finish out the game. Schaumburg doubled twice in the defeat. Kenny Towns reached base and has been aboard in 16 consecutive contests. The Boomers have played 15 rubber games this season.

The Boomers return home following a day off on Monday to open a three-game series with the Lake Erie Crushers on Tuesday night. Schaumburg has only six home games remaining on the schedule.
