Schaumburg Boomers Named Organization of the Year

SCHAUMBURG, IL — The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, have been selected by the Frontier League as the Organization of the Year for 2016.

The honor was announced on Thursday along with the rest of the Frontier League postseason awards. The Boomers currently lead the league in attendance with 160,072 over 45 openings for an average of 3,557 per night, also best in the league. The average attendance is up almost 500 fans per game while the total number is just over 2,000 fewer than all of last year. The team still has three home dates left this weekend to conclude the 2016 campaign, the fifth year of Boomers baseball, and can set an attendance record.

“This is a very special award as it recognizes our entire organization and their efforts in delivering a unique, professional product every day,” said President and General Manager Pete Laven. “On behalf of our owners, Pat and Lindy Salvi, front office, coaching staff, players, and game-day employees we are very honored to be rewarded by the Frontier League and its members with this great award.”

Attendance has grown regularly over the history of the ballclub as the Boomers look to lead the league in attendance for a third consecutive season. In addition to the attendance numbers, the Boomers have put together another strong year of fun at the ballpark with wide ranging promotions and events highlighting fun in the northwest suburbs throughout the summer.

The honor marks the second in franchise history. The team was selected as the Frontier League’s Organization of the Year in 2013 as well.

The Boomers return home on Friday for the final three games of the season, which will feature a pair of fireworks nights.
