BOOMERS ADD ALL-STAR OUTFIELDER, PITCHING DEPTH TO 2016 ROSTER

Highlighted by the signing of 2015 Frontier League all-star outfielder Dusty Robinson, the Boomers are making key additions as manager Jamie Bennett re-shapes his roster for the 2016 season.

Bennett also bolstered the pitching staff by re-acquiring right handed pitcher Anthony Smith from the Winnipeg Goldeyes and receiving reliever Scott Harkin from the Southern Illinois Miners, completing the trade for infielder Craig Massey on August 10th.

Robinson, 26, comes to Schaumburg following two seasons with the Rockford Aviators, who will not return as a member of the Frontier League in 2016.  The righty batted .274 during his 2015 all-star campaign, smacking a career-high 25 doubles along with six homeruns and 45 RBI.  A 10th round draft pick of the Oakland Athletics in 2011, Robinson totaled 64 home runs during his three seasons in the A’s system (2011-2013).

Smith was a valuable member of the Boomers pitching staff in 2014 going 6-2 out of the bullpen for the Frontier League champs. Traded to Winnipeg of the American Association just prior to the 2015 season, the 26-year-old posted a 4-4 record with a 4.95 ERA in 27 games for the Goldeyes last season, starting 11 games on the mound.

Harkin, 24, had a solid season out of the bullpen in 2015, going 3-5 with a 3.88 ERA in 34  games combined with the Miners and Gateway Grizzlies.   The right hander spent the 2013 season in the Milwaukee Brewers system posting a 2-0 record and 1.08 ERA in 13 games with their rookie-level Arizona League affiliate.
