Boomers Release Fun-Filled Promotional Calendar
Highlighted by 20 spectacular fireworks dates, the Schaumburg Boomers presented by Wintrust Community Banks are rolling out a 2016 Promotional Schedule with a little bit of everything, from entertainment acts and giveaways, to everyone’s favorite theme nights and a few brand-new, wacky ideas you will have to see to believe. All Boomers promotional events will be presented with the first-class brand of family-friendly, affordable fun and entertainment fans have come to expect from Chicagoland’s premier minor league baseball franchise.
The best seats for the best dates are sure to go fast, so be sure to get yours early and catch all the weird, wacky fun happening at Boomers Stadium this summer. As in the past, all Tuesday through Friday games begin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday contests begin at 6:00 p.m., and Sundays are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. There are a few exceptions, so be sure to check the full 2016 schedule at www.boomersbaseball.com.
The fifth season of Boomers Baseball kicks off on Friday, May 20 with an Opening Weekend celebration full of everyone’s two favorite things - fireworks and free stuff! Friday night and Saturday night will each feature a spectacular fireworks show, as well as a Magnet Schedule Giveaway on both nights for the first 1,000 fans. Opening weekend finishes up with the first of two Bark in the Park events presented by Lagunitas Brewing Company. All four-legged friends will receive free admission with the purchase of any human ticket. You won’t want to miss a minute of the festivities!
The excitement keeps rolling along as we celebrate Memorial Day Weekend on May 27, 28 and 29 with three straight nights of fireworks. That’s right – back-to-back-to-back fireworks! But that’s not all – on Friday night grab your buzzer and thinking cap as the Boomers bring Game Show Night back for its second season. Saturday, get your early Halloween fix and dress up for the Halloween and Ghostbuster Night costume contest. And there’s no better way to cap off Memorial Day Weekend in Boomerica than with our annual Military Appreciation Night and a third straight night of fireworks, presented by Wintrust Community Banks.
Dial up your babysitter now, because 21 and Over Night is back in all of its uncensored glory on Thursday, June 2! Join us for an evening of raucous grown-up fun at the ballpark with a special 7:30 p.m. start time, complete with games on the concourse you may remember from college, R-rated clips from your favorite baseball movies, a pre-game ceremonial first toast, and the first of its kind Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament!
After the adults have their fun, the Boomers turn right around to host their first-ever Pokemon Night on Friday June 3, with a chance to “Catch’em All” at the Pokemon Hunt. Then don’t miss the Boomers Jersey T-Shirt Giveaway presented by Wintrust Community Banks on Saturday, June 4th, complete with post-game fireworks. Round out the weekend with a special take on the annual Boomers Scavenger Hunt celebrating our favorite forgetful fish at the Finding Dory Scavenger Hunt.
Friendship Village of Schaumburg presents Friendship Day on Tuesday June 14. Meet new friends, connect with old friends, and celebrate all friendships at Boomers Stadium.
June wraps up with a trio of returning favorites. On Thursday June 23rd, Amita Health and Genentech presents Strike Out Stroke to raise awareness for stoke victims and to learn how to act F.A.S.T. in the event of a stroke. The ever-popular Disney Night falls on Friday, June 24 complete with a Disney-themed fireworks extravaganza. And for those who just can’t wait, June 25 is Halfway to Christmas featuring a visit from Santa and his reindeer!
July starts off with a BANG in Boomerica, as the Boomers celebrate Independence Day with America’s Pastime and another three-day slate of fireworks on July 1, 2, & 3! Because nothing says America like baseball and fireworks, July 2nd and 3rd will each feature a special EXTENDED fireworks show. On Saturday, July 2nd check out the Schaumburg 60th Anniversary Celebration, and come right back the next night as everyone’s favorite ballpark entertainer Myron Noodleman makes his triumphant return to Boomers Stadium, as well as a performance by local superstars, the Jesse White Tumblers! Last but certainly not least, take in a special Monday day game on July 4th at 1:00 p.m.
Bust out the cape on Friday, July 22nd for Super Hero Night presented by Geek Inc. Comics, and come on back the next night to eat a cheeseburger with us on Jimmy Buffett Night as you enjoy a special appearance by the world-renowned Zooperstars! As you guessed, fireworks happen both nights. After all of that, you will have the opportunity to “cool off” at your favorite and mine, the Fifth Annual Squirt Gun Fight on Sunday, July 24. A Boomers staple, this is one crazy, wet and wild day at the ballpark, as we transform Boomers Stadium into a water wonderland. We'll provide the squirt gun to the first 1,000 fans courtesy of 1410 WRMN, and everyone will be invited onto the field after the game as we go for the world record.
Bring your tiara and glass slippers on Friday, July 29 for Princess Night and a Girl Scout Campout on yet another fun-filled Fireworks Friday. Not to be outdone, Saturday, July 30th is packed to the brim, highlighted by a special Jamie Bennett Bobblehead Giveaway courtesy of Salvi, Schostok, & Pritchard P.C. for the first 1,000 fans. This one is sure to go fast, so get in line early! But wait! There’s more – it’s also Harry Potter Night and the Jesse White Tumblers are back in action at Boomers Stadium! Of course, we’ll wrap up with a fireworks show set to the Harry Potter soundtrack. Finish the weekend off with the second Bark in the Park presented by Lagunitas Brewing Co.
Whether the force awoke in you for the first time this year or you’ve been a Jedi for decades, the Boomers are the perfect place to get your Star Wars fix with Star Wars Night on Friday, August 5, followed by fireworks and the Boy Scout Campout. The very next night, grab some ammo and get yourself down to the ballpark for the Fourth Annual Boomers Marshmallow Fight presented by Campfire Marshmallows! This annual free-for-all is a Boomers favorite, and you won’t want to miss it! Fans will also enjoy an encore performance by the world-famous Zooperstars. And everyone loves the Olympics, so celebrate the 2016 Summer Olympic Games at the Boomers Olympics Day on Sunday August 7th. The first 1,000 fans will also receive a 2016 Boomers team photo. USA! USA!
Hey Ladies! On Thursday, August 11, the Diamond Dig is back as we are giving away a diamond ring courtesy of Wyatt Austin Jewelers! All women 18 years of age and older are eligible to dig for the diamond ring buried in the infield dirt after the game! And don’t worry dudes, the following Thursday, August 18, the Boomers’ Remote Control Dig takes place on the infield post-game courtesy of JULIE 811! Whoever finds the remote control rides home with a large screen TV from Aaron’s!
The Boomers encourage you to play hooky on Wednesday, August 10 and Wednesday, August 17 for our special 1 p.m. Businessperson’s Days. Take that extra-long lunch or better yet, convince your boss to close the office and treat the whole gang to an afternoon of Boomers Baseball!
Like to win stuff? How about a car? For the second year in a row, the Boomers are hosting a Clunker Car Giveaway on August 25th. Last year the Boomers gave one lucky fan a timeless 1996 Mazda 626. Who knows what kind of gem you could drive out of Boomers Stadium this year!
The Boomers finish strong by saluting the brave men and women serving our country on Military Appreciation Night on Friday, September 2, complete with a postgame fireworks show. Back by popular demand, join us for Zombie Night on Saturday, September 3 as we will “live it up” into the night with a post-game appearance by the acrobatic Jesse White Tumblers and fireworks presented by Wintrust Community Banks! The Boomers round out the 2016 regular season with Fan Appreciation Day on Sunday, September 4, as we salute the great fans of Boomerica and say thank you for another year of support.
