BOOMERS DROP ROADTRIP FINALE

AVON, Ohio  — The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, completed a season opening roadtrip with a 6-4 loss to the Lake Erie Crushers, who swept all three games.

The Boomers battled from down three runs to even the score, but could not take the lead. Lake Erie scored a single run in the fourth and two in the fifth against starter Seth Webster. Jordan Dean opened a three-run sixth with a ground rule double and scored the first run since the 11th inning on Tuesday on a single from Paul Kronenfeld. Mikal Hill and Ino Patron each added two out RBI singles to tie the game before Lake Erie scored in each of the final three trips to the plate to win.

Webster logged six innings in his second start, allowing four runs on nine hits to suffer the loss. Dean and Patron each tallied a pair of hits in the defeat. Schaumburg finished the roadtrip 1-5 with all six contests decided by three runs or less. The Boomers held the lead for only a half inning of the first contest in the entire series.

The home portion of the season opens on Friday night at Boomers Stadium with fireworks following a 6:30 p.m. contest.  RHP Scott Schultz (0-0, 12.46) makes his second start of the year for the Boomers against LHP Brady Muller (0-1, 9.00).
