Boomers Streak Snapped at Four

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — It was another tight game down the stretch for the Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, but the bats were unable to rally late as they snapped a four-game winning streak with a 5-1 loss to the River City Rascals.

The Boomers gave up an unearned run in the top of the sixth on an error by Jordan Dean. Dean atoned for his error in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single to score Chris Robinson. The normally solid Schaumburg bullpen allowed four runs in the top of the eighth. Two runs scored on a Griff Gordon double and the other two scored on a hit by pitch and a wild pitch by Ken Knudsen.

Paul Kronenfeld saw a personal streak end as his hitless night closed the book on his 11-game hitting steak. Right-handed pitcher Josh Heddinger takes the mound for the Boomers as they look to return to their winning ways Saturday night at 6 p.m. Ensure your place in the fun at Boomers Stadium this summer by calling (847) 461-FOWL (3695).
