Boomers Close Homestand With Win

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, salvaged a win out of the series against River City, winning 4-2 Sunday afternoon behind a complete game from starting pitcher Seth Webster.

The Boomers struck first with Dusty Robinson reaching on an error in the first inning scoring Jordan Dean. Two solo home runs gave River City a 2-1 lead heading into the seventh inning before Robinson came through again with an RBI double. Schaumburg took control the next inning on a Mikal Hill RBI triple. Josh Gardiner drove home Hill in the next at bat with a single.

Webster allowed 10 hits and struck out two in his nine innings of work and earned his first win of the season. A single in the first inning extended Mark Nelson’s hitting streak to eight games. The Boomers have Monday off before they travel to Traverse City as they begin a six game road trip with Scott Schultz on the mound.
