WEBSTER MATCHES RECORD AS BOOMERS WIN FOURTH STRAIGHT

CRESTWOOD, Ill. — Seth Wester struck out 11 batters to match the team record as the Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, led virtually wire-to-wire in a 6-2 victory over the Windy City ThunderBolts, claiming a fourth straight win.

Ino Patron lifted a sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning to hand Schaumburg an early 1-0 lead. Patron drove home three runs in the game, tripling home a run in the fourth before crossing on a James Keller single to make the score 3-0. Windy City touched Webster for a pair of runs in the fifth, but the Boomers pulled away with runs in the sixth, seventh, and ninth.

Webster improved to 3-1 on the season by working eight innings, walking two. Edwin Carl twice struck out 11 last season for the Boomers. Jordan Dean drove home two runs with hits in the seventh and ninth, reaching the 100 RBI mark for his career with the Boomers. Schaumburg put up 11 hits in the game with four players picking up two hits each.

The Boomers (12-14) will aim for the sweep on Sunday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. RHP Scott Schultz (1-1, 4.03) starts against RHP Mitchell Cody (0-0, 2.89).
