BOOMERS BESTED AT JOLIET

JOLIET, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, managed just two hits in a 9-1 road loss to the Joliet Slammers on Saturday night.

Joliet used four-run outbursts in the second and third innings to open an 8-0 advantage against Schaumburg starter Scott Schultz. Schultz worked just four innings in the loss. Derek DeYoung threw 2.2 innings and Jake Joyce 1.1 out of the bullpen. Chris Robinson tallied both hits for the Boomers, knocking home the lone run in the fourth.

The Boomers (16-16) conclude the series on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. LHP Gunnar Kines (1-1, 3.55) starts for the Boomers against RHP Kaleb Ort (2-1, 6.00).
