Boomers Ride Big Inning to Victory

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, posted a crooked number early again and defeated the Lake Erie Crushers 6-3 Wednesday afternoon.

The game was delayed almost two hours due to inclement weather but the wait didn’t hut the Boomers bats. Paul Kronenfeld was hit by a pitch to lead off the second inning and, after stealing second, came around to score on a Mikal Hill double. After an Ino Patron single, Chris Robinson doubled home Hill. Jordan Dean grounded out to the second baseman to score Patron and Robinson scored during Kenny Towns’ at bat on a wild pitch.

Dusty Robinson extended the Schaumburg lead the next inning with an RBI double to score Mark Nelson. The Crushers inched closer with two runs in the fourth and one in the seventh but Dean singled home Chris Robinson in the eighth to provide the final.

Josh Heddinger left after three and two thirds innings with shoulder soreness. Heddinger allowed two runs on five hits, striking out two and walking two. The Boomers bullpen shined again, allowing just one run in the remaining five and a third innings. The Boomers look for the sweep Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. with Seth Webster (3-2, 3.75) on the hill. Ensure your place in the fun at Boomers Stadium this summer by calling (847) 461-FOWL (3695).
