Boomers Bring Back Gardiner, Keller, & Kelly

 

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - The Schaumburg Boomers re-signed three members of the 2017 team: INF Josh Gardiner, C James Keller, and RHP Garrett Kelly.

Gardiner, 24, batted .261 with a .342 on base percentage and 47 RBI in 86 games for the Boomers in 2017 playing SS and 3B. Gardiner spent 23 games with Schaumburg in 2016 before being picked up by the New York Yankees and batted .250 for the Pulaski Yankees. Gardiner attended Radford University and is a native of Lignum, VA.

Keller, 24, will return for his third season with the Boomers. In 2017 the catcher batted .251 with four home runs and 38 RBI in 73 appearances behind the plate. Keller attended University of Mary Washington where he earned All-South Region First by the ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com. He is a native of Fredericksburg, VA.

Kelly, 23, will return for his second season in Schaumburg. The RHP posted 1-0 record with a 1.77 ERA with 56 strikeouts in 40.2 innings of relief. Kelly signed a minor-league contract with the Minnesota Twins in 2016 where he went 1-3 with a 3.67 ERA for the GCL Twins. He attended Wake Forest and is a native of Fresno, CA.

 

The Boomers 2018 season, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, begins May 11. The Home Opener is Tuesday, May 15 vs. Southern Illinois.
