Wild Game Ends in Extra-Inning Loss

SCHAUMBURG, IL — The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, saw a four-game win streak come to an end after the Lake Erie Crushers scored four times in the 11th inning to grab an 8-4 win.

Lake Erie scored three times in the top of the third to open the scoring. Alex Polston opened the bottom of the inning with a single to ignite a four-run rally as the Boomers took the lead. Matt Rose singled home two runs with two outs and Connor Oliver added a two-run single to hand Schaumburg the 4-3 lead. The advantage held until the seventh, when an unearned run allowed the Crushers to tie the game. Neither team scored until the 11th, when Lake Erie took advantage of the international tiebreaker rule and scored four runs.

The Schaumburg hitters struck out 19 times to set the single game record. The pitching staff issued a franchise record 12 walks while striking out a franchise record 19. Polston and Rose tallied their first multi-hit games of the year. Erik Martinez struck out seven in his first professional start, working four innings. Dylan Stutsman suffered the loss, allowing the four runs in the 11th.

It will be Jurassic Ballpark Night featuring postgame fireworks presented by Wintrust Community Banks. LHP Aaron Rozek (0-1, 5.63) starts in the series opener.
