Evansville Shuts Out Boomers to Win Series

SCHAUMBURG, IL — The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, were shutout for the second time in three games by the Evansville Otters, dropping a 2-0 decision on Sunday afternoon to lose a home series for the first time this year.

Evansville scored a single run in the second inning on a triple from Jack Meggs, the lone run surrendered by Schaumburg starter Aaron Rozek. Rozek took the hard-luck loss, working six innings and allowing one run on eight hits with a walk and five strikeouts. Rozek spun a second straight quality start in slipping to 1-2 on the year. The pitching staff, who leads the league in ERA as the only team under 3.00, logged four quality starts on the homestand including all three games with Evansville. The Boomers tallied eight hits in the game but stranded 10 men on base. Nick Oddo notched three hits with Dylan Jones adding two. Randy Wynne twirled eight shutout innings for Evansville, collecting his fifth win of the season to tie for the league lead.

The Boomers (16-11) begin a six-game roadtrip in Kentucky on Tuesday night against the Florence Freedom before returning home on June 18. Visit boomersbaseball.com for tickets and information or call 847-461-3695.
