FLORENCE, KY — The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, dropped an epic 12-inning game at the hands of the Florence Freedom in the opener of a roadtrip by a 3-2 final on Tuesday night.

The Boomers led 1-0 in the top of the second after Nick Oddo scored on a fielder’s choice by Julio Gonzalez. Oddo doubled to start the inning. Florence tied the game in the fourth before the Boomers made it 2-1 on a triple from Jack Parenty. Florence tied the game in the bottom of the frame. Both teams had chances to score but it took until the 12th for the winning run to cross. Schaumburg saw the go-ahead run thrown out at the plate in the 11th. The pitching staff worked out of jams in the 10th and 11th.

Parenty walked twice and logged two hits with a steal. Oddo finished with two hits while Connor Oliver also notched a pair. Gunnar Kines worked 6.1 innings in the loss, allowing two runs. Connor Eller suffered the loss, his first of the year.

The Boomers (16-12) continue the roadtrip on Wednesday night at 5:35pm with LHP Connor Reed (2-1, 1.91) on the mound. The team returns home on June 18. Visit boomersbaseball.com for tickets and information or call 847-461-3695.
