Oddo and Eller Selected as All-Stars

SCHAUMBURG, IL —The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, are pleased to announce that Nick Oddo and Connor Eller will represent the team at the 2019 All-Star Game.

Oddo, in his third season with the team, has been selected as the starting catcher for the Frontier League team. An All-Star in 2018, Oddo becomes just the fourth player in team history to log multiple mid-season All-Star selections. The left-handed hitter leads the Boomers and ranks fourth in the league with a .312 batting average. Oddo, 27, owns three homers and 14 RBIs while leading the team with 10 doubles. The California native has hit in the middle of the order all year and has also appeared at first base and designated hitter. Oddo owns the longest on base streak of the season by a Boomer at 12 games early in the season.

Eller is the team’s closer and leads the league with nine saves. The first-year Boomer owns a 4-1 record with a 1.80 ERA in 18 appearances, working 20 innings. Eller, 25, joined the Boomers after three seasons with the Blue Jays. The Arkansas native is 9-of-11 in save opportunities this season, converting at an 81.8 percent rate. The nine saves match the career total for Eller in his first three years as a pro.

“We are very proud of both Oddo and Eller,” said Schaumburg manager Jamie Bennett. “Both are very deserving and have worked hard to create the success they’ve had thus far in the season. Both guys exemplify what we look for in players on and off the field.”

The contest pits a new format in 2019 as the Frontier League All-Stars will meet the All-Stars from the Can-Am League. The game will be hosted by the Rockland Boulders in Rockland, New York on July 10.

"We are extremely pleased and excited to be playing the Can-Am League All-Stars,” said Frontier League Commissioner Bill Lee. “Everyone is looking forward to coming to the New York area. This is an unprecedented game for our League. We want to thank all of the owners, teams and Executive Director Kevin Winn for making this possible. Above all, we want to thank Shawn Reilly and the entire Rockland Boulders staff for their hard work.”

All-Star events begin with the All-Star Charitable Luncheon featuring New York Yankees' broadcaster John Sterling on Tuesday, July 9. The Home Run Derby takes place that night and features former New York Yankees and Mets players Mookie Wilson, Jesse Barfield, and John Flaherty.

The Can-Am League vs. Frontier League All-Star Game presented by WMC Health/Good Samaritan Hospital is Wednesday, July 10. For tickets and additional information, please visit http://www.rocklandboulders.com/allstarsummer2019
