SCHAUMBURG, IL —The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, dropped a 6-3 decision to the Florence Freedom on Sunday night as Florence swept the series.

Florence opened an early 3-0 lead by scoring a pair of runs in the first and adding another in the second. Schaumburg rallied to within 3-2 by plating two runs in the third. Connor Oliver led off the inning with his third triple of the year before scoring on a groundout by newcomer Chase Dawson, obtained in a trade before the game. Matt Rose homered for the second consecutive contest, adding to his team leading total with his sixth of the year over the wall in right. Isaac Benard helped put the game away with a two-run homer in the fifth. Rose doubled home Dawson in the seventh, but an insurance run in the ninth accounted for the final.

The Boomers stranded nine on base in the contest. Payton Lobdell suffered the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) in five innings.
