Boomers Blanked in Series Finale

WASHINGTON, PA — The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, were shutout by the Washington Wild Things 5-0 in the finale of a weekend series in Pennsylvania on Sunday.

Washington opened the scoring for the first time in the series with a two-out double from JR Davis in the bottom of the third. The Wild Things added a solo homer in the fifth before tacking on three in the sixth including a two-run homer. The Boomers had runners on base in every inning with the exception of the ninth but were unable to score.

Payton Lobdell worked 5.1 innings and suffered the loss on the mound. Christian Aragon threw 1.2 innings and Michael McCraith worked the eighth. Quincy Nieporte finished with three hits as the Boomers totaled eight. Jack Parenty and Connor Oliver added two apiece.

The Boomers (35-30) return home on Monday night to begin a four-game series against the River City Rascals at 6:30 p.m. with LHP Aaron Rozek (4-3, 2.99) on the mound. Monday night is Office Space Night with all kinds of fun themed around the anniversary of the movie. The team will wear specialty uniforms on a night presented by Midwest Moving.
