Boomers Hold Off Windy City

CRESTWOOD, IL — The Schaumburg Boomers homered three times and held off a ninth-inning rally to notch a 7-6 win over the Windy City ThunderBolts and cap a 4-2 roadtrip.

Windy City held leads of 1-0 and 2-1, but homers tied the game on both occasions. Matt McGarry drilled a solo homer in the third and Quincy Nieporte notched his fifth of the year in the fourth. With the game tied at 2-2, Brett Milazzo led off the eighth with his first professional homer to give the Boomers a lead they would not relinquish. Willy Garcia added a two-run double in the eighth while Chase Dawson and Nieporte knocked home runs in the ninth as the Boomers led 7-2. Windy City scored four times in the bottom of the ninth, but Darrell Thompson recorded a strikeout to end the contest.
