Boomers Stop Equipe Quebec

SCHAUMBURG, IL — Three pitchers combined to allow just one run as the Schaumburg Boomers nipped Equipe Quebec 2-1 in the middle game of the series at Wintrust Field.

Jesse Remington started the game by retiring the first six Equipe Quebec hitters and facing the minimum through 3.1 innings of work. The Boomers took a 1-0 lead in the second. Clint Hardy led off with a double and scored on a sacrifice fly from Luke Becker, who has driven home three runs in the series. Equipe Quebec tied the game with a single tally in the fourth before Alec Craig hit a solo homer leading off the sixth to account for the difference.

The Boomers managed just four hits in the win, two from Craig who reached base four times and tallied a stolen base. Remington threw seven innings and allowed just one run on five hits with no walks and six strikeouts to claim his second win of the year. Jake Joyce worked around trouble in the eighth and Darrell Thompson stranded the tying run in the ninth to notch his fifth save of the year and first since July 11. The save was the first for Schaumburg in the month of August.

The Boomers (36-31) wrap the homestand with a busy Thursday night. The first 1,000 fans will receive a Boomers pint glass courtesy of Michelob Ultra on a Pint Night presented by Versiti. The evening will also feature postgame fireworks on Hockey Night. Visit boomersbaseball.com for tickets and information or call 847-461-3695.
