Boomers Drop Middle Game with Joliet

SCHAUMBURG, IL — The Schaumburg Boomers dropped a 5-0 decision to the Joliet Slammers in a game that was delayed by rain for over two hours on Wednesday night at Wintrust Field.

Joliet scored a single run in the second inning and managed just one hit through six innings against Schaumburg starter Andrew Dean. Dean retired eight in a row and 14-of-15 entering the seventh before the Slammers totaled four runs to open a 5-0 lead. Dean allowed just three earned runs in 6.1 innings, striking out six. Jack Snyder retired the two batters he faced in the seventh including one via strikeout. Isaiah Rivera worked the final two innings, striking out four in a row and retiring all six batters faced. The Boomers stranded 10 on base in the contest, finishing with six hits. Alec Craig reached four times with two hits, a walk and a hit by pitch.

The Boomers (38-35) conclude the brief three-game series at home with a quick turnaround as the teams play again at 12:05 p.m. on Thursday.
