BOOMERS BOLSTER ROSTER WITH ADDITION OF HART

The 2021 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers have bolstered the 2022 roster by adding outfielder Mike Hart today, the 2019 American Association Rookie of the Year.

Hart is a fifth-year professional who received national attention last year for a play in the outfield. While playing for the Sioux Falls Canaries in the American Association last July, Hart made a leaping catch against the wall that was the number four play on ESPN SportsCenter’s Top 10. Hart’s manager at the time, Mike Meyer, called the Massachusetts native “the most exciting player in the American Association.”

Hart comes to the Boomers after playing in 11 games for Charleston in the Atlantic League. Hart posted a .364 on-base percentage while logging half his hits for extra bases.

Last season in Sioux Falls, his fourth with the Canaries, Hart played in a career high 84 games, batting .246 with 11 homers and 40 RBIs. The University of Massachusetts graduate slugged .429 with an on-base percentage of .375, totaling 18 doubles to go with 39 walks, 59 runs and 11 steals. Hart led the American Association after being hit by a pitch 22 times last season. Hart was a unanimous choice for Rookie of the Year in 2019 after batting .297 with 11 homers and 42 RBIs.

Playing in 273 games for Sioux Falls during his career, Hart hit 30 homers while driving home 122 runs, stealing 25 bases and scoring 160 runs. Besides playing the outfield, Hart has also made professional appearances at catcher, first base, second base and third base.

The Boomers (19-21) return home tonight for four days of fun to celebrate Independence Day including three fireworks nights. Tickets for the 2022 season are on sale now! Visit boomersbaseball.com.
