Boomers Top New Jersey in Series Opener

SCHAUMBURG, IL — The 2021 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers managed just four hits but grabbed a 6-2 win over the New Jersey Jackals to open the homestand in the first ever meeting between the two teams.

Schaumburg jumped ahead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second. Braxton Davidson opened the inning with a walk and scored on a passed ball. Blake Grant-Parks singled home Blake Berry with the second run. New Jersey immediately tied the game with two runs in the top of the third. The score remained even until the Boomers were able to score four times in sixth. The first three batters reached before a bloop single from Alec Craig put the Boomers ahead. Brett Milazzo coaxed a bases loaded walk with Chase Dawson knocking home a run on a groundout. The fourth run scored on a wild pitch.

Aaron Glickstein struck out six in six innings of work to grab his fourth win of the season, working six innings for a third consecutive start. Kristian Scott worked the seventh, Thomas Nicoll the eighth and All-Star Darrell Thompson struck out the side in the ninth. Davidson and Berry both scored a pair of runs. Davidson and Milazzo both reached three times. Davidson extended his on-base streak to 17 games.

The Boomers (32-27) have a quick turnaround with the middle game coming at 11:00am on a Day Camp Game at Wintrust Field.
