Five Eighth Inning Runs Cost Boomers

WASHINGTON, Pa. — The Washington Wild Things plated five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to capture the middle game of a weekend road series with a 6-3 victory over the Schaumburg Boomers.

Gaige Howard led off the game with a double for the Boomers and scored two batters later on an RBI single from Brett Milazzo. Blake Grant-Parks made the score 2-0 with an infield single to drive home Milazzo. The lead reached 3-0 in the third inning when Alec Craig singled home Chase Dawson.

Luis Perez struck out eighth in seven shutout innings, allowing just an unearned run. Robert Chayka notched a two-run single to give the Wild Things the lead. Anthoy Broacato provided needed insurance for Washington with a two-out two-run single. Schaumburg brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth but could not overcome the deficit. Dawson tallied three hits with Milazzo and Will Prater tallying two each as the Boomers finished with 11 in the loss.

The Boomers wrapup the roadtrip with the rubber game against Washington on Sunday afternoon at 4:35 CST. The team will return home for the Fourth of July Festivities beginning on July 3 against Joliet. Tickets are available by visiting boomersbaseball.com or calling 847-461-3695.
