Boomers Finish Roadtrip with Another Close Loss

WASHINGTON, Pa. — The Schaumburg Boomers finished a six-game roadtrip with another close late-inning loss, suffering a 5-4 defeat to the Washington Wild Things on Sunday night. Schaumburg finished the roadtrip 2-4 with two walk-off defeats and three losses by a combined total of five runs.

Washington scored twice in the first to take the lead. Anthony Brocato led off the game with a homer against Schaumburg starter Jackson Hickert. Hickert allowed three runs in five innings of work in a no-decision. Kyle Fitzgerald put the Boomers on the board with a solo homer in the third and John Fiorenza homered in the sixth to draw the Boomers within 3-2. Alec Craig gave Schaumburg their first lead with a two-run double in the seventh, a lead that held until Thomas Caulfield notched the game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth.
